Situation At the bottom of the highest summit of Corsica, the Monte Cinto (2707 m, in the highest valley of the island, la Casa Vanella receives you in Casamaccioli, on the right edge of the Golo's river, clear onrush with beautiful natural water pools. Crossroads of the GR20 North and the Mare a Mare North, Casa Vanella invites you for a comfortable break and food lover's get away in the heart of the Corsican mountains. The architecture is inspirited by the sober old corsica way of building, with naturals materials (lime, ironworks, local granite stones…) in a natural property with an hundred year old pine and trees. Casa Vanella overhangs the village and is facing an outstanding panorama on the most beautiful summits of Corsica : Paglia Orba, Monte Cinto, Capu Biancu, Capu Verdatu… Casa Vanella is the assurance of a perfect modern comfort, a natural peace and rest, a beneficial and unique silence, a contemplative break far from everywhere… It's also on September, 7,8,9th A SANTA DI NIOLU, a traditional place of pilgrimage, linked with an agricultural and craftsmen fair, meeting of the authentic Corsica, sharing traditions and musical arts. ACTIVITIES The valley of Niolo is the perfect place for all kind of sports in natural areas : hiking, swimming, mountain biking, snow shoes, canyoning… 10 minutes far from the house, you can swim in the pure water of the pools of the Golo, that borns at the bottom of the Paglia Orba. You will enjoy waterfalls, fresh shade under lariccio pine or sunny moments on the rocks. Hiking is also possible everywhere, alone or with your family and children. Various and surprising are the paths around our house. Wherever you go, on the East, in the highest valley of Tavignano and the ancestral shepherds houses, on the North West to Calasima and the GR20 North or on the rocky path to Monte Cinto, on the West to Evisa and the Spelunca or the Valdoniello forest or the soft petty of the lake of Nino with its wild horses, or on the NOrth to the Scala of Santa Regina with it's old old rock walls built by the men….. beauty of the lakes, majesty of the summits, infinite forests, old footprints of History Whenever you come, you can hike by foot or with snow shoes in winter, in April the rivers of the valley are perfect for kayaking or for fishing, and in June, you can horseriding or hiking with mule for your young children. The most courageous will appreciate "the accrobranche" of Valdoniello or canyoning, or climbing. 50 minutes far from the house, you will walk in the clear sand of the nearest beach of Ostriconi, or 1h15 far the rocky coast in PORTO where you will discover the various fauna of the Mediterranée. There you can also take a boat to enjoy the view of the Natural Reserve of Scandola or the Calanches of PIANA. OUR "TABLES d'HOTES" , our dinners by night Mirror of our natural environment and of our culture, our table d'hôte will invite you to meet the agricultural tradition of the valley, the typical and excellent cheeses and brocciu, lamb and goat kids, young veals and also a delicious home made charcuterie. The mellowness of the local honey and chestnut will wake you you softly in the morning. Each day, we cook with what our vegetable garden give us or in case of necessity we add with organic local products. Our recipes are coming from the oldest notebooks of our grandmothers and of the train of the oral traditions of women. Simple and fine local cooking, with the colors of Mediterranean sea, inspired by all the luminous fruit and vegetables of our culture, it's what we propose….
